Receives Five-Star Rating of Excellence

Mid State Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Center, affiliated with CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, has received a five-star rating of excellence for quality of care and surgical outcomes in Orthopaedic Services from HealthGrades.  With this outstanding score, HealthGrades has designated Mid State Orthopaedics as the #1 Overall Orthopedic Program in the Central Louisiana Region for 2008, and in the top 3 of all orthopaedic service lines in the state of Louisiana.

The independent third-party reports from HealthGrades validate that where people go to receive Orthopaedic services makes a big difference in the quality of care they receive.  Millions of consumers and hundreds of the nation's largest employers, health plans and hospitals rely on HealthGrades' independent ratings, consulting and products to make healthcare decisions based on the quality of care.

“We work extremely hard on all quality outcomes, as evidenced by the data collected by Medicare" said Mark Dodson, MD.  “For example, our orthopaedic infection rate at Cabrini Hospital is significantly lower than the expected national average".

Dr Dodson further notes “Our physicians have standardized all of our hospital protocols to conform to the best practices, which will continue to enhance patient care.  The PQRI data (Physician Quality Reporting Initiative) places Cabrini in the Top 10% of all hospitals for surgical infection prevention measures, as well as VTE (embolism) preventative measures".

Considering this is the second time in three years that Mid State has been recognized by HealthGrades, Chris Rich, MD, MBA stated that “These unsolicited ratings provide an important third party validation of the high level of care patients receive from the physicians at Mid State and Cabrini Hospital.  There are some physician groups that claim they can deliver high quality outcomes, and other providers advertise that their orthopaedic training is better."
