Avoiding January Scale Shock: Cenla Health - Alexandria, Pineville, Louisiana

The time of year is upon us, the holidays.One more opportunity to add extra weight that will bring tears to your eyes when you step on the scale in January.Moderation and smart choices is the key.Here are a few tips to a healthier holiday season!

  • Don't deprive yourself all day in anticipation of a big meal at night.Although we may think we are cutting down on calories, all we are doing is telling our body to store fat.
  • When you see those treats that mom only makes once a year, just eat half of a piece.Who has more resolve, you or that coconut cake?Trust me, gorging on calorie laden desserts will only make you want more!
  • Be careful of sauces and gravies.One tablespoon tastes just as good as half of a cup!
  • Don't forget to drink water.It will help you feel satisfied without the empty calories.Also, at the time of year when some people may be imbibing more than usual, it will help keep you hydrated.
