A NEW SOLUTION FOR PROBLEM VEINS

The Vascular Clinic Vein Center announces a new treatment for problem varicose veins. The VNUS Closure Company has developed a new radiofrequency catheter which seals off perforating veins.
Perforating veins connect the deep venous system to surface varicose veins. These feed and engorge veins under the skin which cause edema, skin breakdown and non-healing sores. When veins recur years after a vein stripping or leg ulcers appear, it is usually the perforating veins that cause these problems. In the past, to correct this, an extensive painful surgery called subfascial ligation was necessary with prolonged healing afterwards.
VNUS Closure occlusion of perforator veins is now done in the office with local anesthesia and patients are walking the next day. There are no incisions or scars. This new management of venous disease is now offered at the Vascular Clinic.
“We have used the VNUS Closure method for treating the Greater Saphenous vein varicosities for about five years. It is a dependable, safe procedure with minimal pain and bruising. We are now able to use this same system to reach the perforating veins where they have caused skin damage and venous ulcers. This takes minimal invasive treatment of the vein problems to the next logical level," says Dr David, vascular surgeon.
“Vein problems can be complicated because of variable anatomy and different stages of the disease a patient might have. There can be just symptoms of aching and fatigue or there can be severe chronic pain with open sores and tightly swollen skin. We now have a method of dealing with the worst cases more safely, with less pain and quick recovery," said Dr. David.
The VNUS Closure technology is available in Central Louisiana only at the Vascular Clinic. For more information you may visit www.vnus.com or call the Vascular Clinic at 318-445-0058.
